Best Ways to Get Cheap Accommodation in Las Vegas

It’s funny if you talk to people who have never been to Las Vegas.  They seem to think that cheap hotel rooms just float around the city.  They believe in the TV show antics in which people just turn up to Vegas, start gambling and are given a luxury suite.  That’s just not the case.  In fact, the majority of people who visit end up paying about the same price for a hotel room as most other cities in America.  But the truth is, getting a cheap hotel room in Las Vegas is easy, it just takes a little bit of patience and maybe some compromise.  Follow my below tricks for finding good prices on accommodation in Las Vegas any time of year.

Las Vegas

Go Off-Season and Mid-Week

The prices of hotels in Las Vegas aren’t dependent on how much you gamble as some might imagine.  Unless you’re a “Whale”, then really it has nothing to do with it.  The price of Vegas accommodation is solely dependent on the time of year, time of week, and whether or not there are any big conferences in town.  If you do some planning, you’ll be able to find which dates on the calendar offer the cheapest rooms in Las Vegas.  Pick days where there are only small conferences and generally the middle of the week works best.

Stay at a Casino

Ok, so there is some truth to the whole “if you gamble, you’ll get a cheaper room” theory and it revolves around hotels that double as casinos.  Generally speaking, these hotels will give you a better rate on the assumption that you’re going to be gambling when you’re there.  Now, don’t bother wasting your time with a little hotel with a couple slot machines.  If you want the best price on a good hotel in Las Vegas check out the big casinos.

Go to One of the Hostels

Believe it or not, there are a couple hostels in Las Vegas and they easily offer the best deals on accommodation in town.  For example, the Hostel Cat where I usually stay is only about $15 a night for a private room.  Now, it’s not right on the strip, but it’s only about a 10 minute walk to get there.  Moreover, the location isn’t terrible.  It’s basically right under the Stratosphere.

Book in Advance or Last Minute

Hotel prices in Las Vegas are fluid.  They change drastically depending on a number of factors.  If you book well in advance you might beat the rush of other people booking.  You can get some good hotel deals just on the basis of hotel casinos hoping to fill up their rooms early.  On the other end of the spectrum, if you have a lot of flexibility, look to book cheap rooms in Las Vegas at the last minute.  If there are plenty of rooms left at certain hotels they’ll often nearly give them away just trying to get people under their sheets and into their casinos.

Search the Web for Deals

The best way to find good prices on cheap accommodation in Las Vegas is to scour the internet.  Most hotels put their best deals out there to online hotel booking agents in hopes of filling out their rooms.  For instance, I can recommend you to check Travel Ticker for the booking. This website can be quite handy for you if you are looking for great hotels in Las Vegas. In fact, using an online booking agent is the best when looking for a room with only a couple weeks left before you plan on going. You can get some insanely good rates by doing it this way.
