Most people’s minds are immediately tossed to images of blood diamonds, child soldiers, and brutal warfare at the mere mention of Sierra Leone. but that’s the beauty of travel is that you get to create your own images. My image of Sierra Leone will be one of beautiful beaches, some incredible wildlife and some of the friendliest people on the planet. If there is any country in this part of West Africa that has a real opportunity to blossom as a tourism destination, it’s Sierra Leone.

Sierra Leone is a gem! Don’t go during the rainy season! The beaches are amazing.
Haha, I was there in the heart of the rainy season… it was hard travel, but the beaches were still beautiful. I got quite lucky with the weather too I think
Will be there in January for 3 weeks. Did stay in SL for almost 3 years, going back now after 7 years. Courius about the progress they have made….
Will be interesting for you for sure Johannes… I know that it probably “feels” better now… no idea if the infrastructure etc. is better in Sierra Leone now though. Personally, I loved Sierra Leone, and I know there are a lot of other people who are very passionate about the country as well.
