Photos of Vultures in Medellin, Colombia

There have been two vultures picking at the roof of our apartment in Medellin for the past couple of weeks.

They’ve used the perch to scout for their prey on the park below, but as they do so they cause quite the stir.  The noise disruptions go to a point that we climbed onto the roof of our 9th story apartment, along very Spanish shingles, to try to find out if they had a nest.  Our reconnaissance mission failed because, well,  we didn’t feel like finding the vulture’s nest was worth our lives.

Since then we’ve learned to not only live through the noise caused by our housemates, but accept them as members of the family.  Today one of the vultures perched itself on a ledge giving me the opportunity to shoot some photos as I hung out the window with the other house members holding my feet.  Two of the images in particular came out beautifully, and one of them was adjusted to a false infrared look afterwards as well.  Enjoy these 3 photos of The Vulture of Bosques de Alejandria.
