Video: The Time I went Skydiving in Namibia

I can’t believe how quickly I’m getting caught up on all these videos.  Only a month ago I was still working on videos from Central Africa, now I’m all the way to Namibia and my crazy adventures there.  One of the more insane adventures I had in Namibia was this skydive with Ground Rush Adventures out of Swakopmund.  They literally called me and said “we’re picking you in 5 minutes for a skydive, get ready.”  I had no chance to prepare mentally, which was probably a good thing.  I really felt no fear or nervousness about the skydive at all.  Actually, the only thing that made me nervous was the fact that I wasn’t nervous.

Sitting on the edge of the plane, with my feet out the door dangling over the desert of Namibia, I felt a quick moment of what the hell are you doing. But before I knew it I was rolling out of the plane and down towards the earth.  I was blown away by how in control you feel when you’re falling.  You feel like you’re swimming almost, as if you can move your hands slightly and turn or twist.  It really is the most amazing feeling.  I was also surprised by the fact that though you are, it doesn’t really feel like you’re falling.

Anyways, I hope you liked the video of me skydiving in Namibia.  If you ever get to Africa, give the guys at Groud Rush Skydiving a call and do this.  It’s great value, the dive only runs about $200 and you’ll be hard pressed to find a better rate or location to do it than Swakopmund, Namibia.

  1. Thats must have been a rush. Im not sure i want to sky dive in the desert though. I need to see green and get an illusion that if i fell, i might just land on a patch of grass rather than barren sand and rocks.. Great pictures and article.

  2. Some adventures like sky diving are blood chilling when we give them a though but once we engage on one, they are nothing less than addictive

  3. I watched the video and it looks like a lot of fun and a bit scary at the same time. By watching you flying through the air I just want to try it out.

I have to admit that I am not afraid of a lot that other people are afraid of. For example I don’t care to walk up to strangers and approach them with all kind of weird and funny shit but I just can’t imagine jumping out of an airplane at the moment.

But if you are afraid of something you have to do it, otherwise your fear will never go away. So I guess I have to jump out of an airplane…
