“Looking down on Machu Picchu”

Tomorrow I will head to Machu Picchu again.  I’ve been there before, in fact, I’ve been there on multiple occasions working as a Tour Leader for a company called Kumuka. This picture, however, is from the very first time I visited; and like they say, there’s nothing like a first time.  We climbed up to the top from Aguas Calientes and were the first to arrive at the gates to the Inca city.  Being the first in we got our wish of receiving passes to climb up Wayna Picchu, which is the mountain in all the iconic pictures of Machu Picchu.  It’s true, most people believe that iconic mountain is Machu Picchu, however, the real Machu Picchu mountain is the mountain that I’m looking down at in this picture.  What a view:

  1. That is an amazing view. Hopefully next year I can get to go there. I don’t have many vacations day from work. So I try to go to place in a long weekend. But Peru is those place you want to spent longer time.
