While the mist of the grand Victoria Falls is the biggest draw for tourists to Zambia, there is so much more to this country than just the tumbling waters. From the rugged copper belt to the fresh national parks in the south, there is a wealth of activity waiting to be experienced in Zambia. Perhaps more developed than most expect, travel through Zambia is relatively easy as long as you stay near the beaten path. Moreover, the tourism infrastructure is as developed as anywhere in the region. The best part? It’s totally possible to travel the country on a backpacker’s budget without worrying that you’re missing too much. Tours, lodges, and food are all of very decent value. To top it all off, the Zambian people are incredibly friendly and will welcome you with wide open arms.
Highlights: Livingstone, South Luangwa National Park,
Backpacker’s Budget: 50-60 USD a day
