Cinque Terre Photography Retreat

This is something I’ve been wanting to do for years: a photography workshop in Cinque Terre, Italy.  This really is one of the most incredible photo locations in the world, and it’s one of the coolest places to learn the craft.  This trip is going to follow the “retreat” format which means that we’ll be based in one place for the whole trip, and make day trips out to different locations.  This will give us the chance to relax a bit, have a bit of a home base where we can do some work, and be in the heart of the action.

This photography retreat to Cinque Terre is going to be epic!

Cinque Terre Itinerary

Normally on my photography workshops we have a pretty set itinerary.  However, I like to try to keep things more open on the retreats. This way, we can work with the weather conditions and the light we have available.  Plans will change, and we’ll have the freedom to re-shoot locations we like, or location scout new places.

It’s worth checking out my photography guide to Cinque Terre, too.  We’ll photograph all these locations at some point on the workshop. Hopefully, we’ll find some new places too.

As for where we’ll be based? This will be announced later – but it will be within the villages – likely in Manarola.  From Manarola, the train journeys between our photo locations are never more than 40 minutes by train.  Some are right in town.

What’s a Photography Retreat?

Each year I operate at least one photography retreat somewhere in the world. The first was in Bali and was an absolute success.

The goal of the retreat is to have a laid-back, but high impact approach to learning photography.  Since we’re based in one villa, we’ll be immersed in photography. There’s no wasted time driving from destination to destination, it’s high-productivity photography experience.

Each day, there will be both sunrise and sunset photo excursions.  Then, in the middle of the day there will be classroom sessions on everything from photo editing to the business of photography.  There will also be ample time to relax if that’s what you’re after.

Moreover, the retreats are more-or-less all-inclusive.  You just need to pay for alcoholic beverages and snacks. The rest is all covered.
